Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission to meet September 2-3
August 27, 2026La Junta, Colo — Next week, the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission (PWC) will convene for a hybrid meeting in La Junta. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on Wed., Sept. 2, and recess at 5:15 p.m. The commission will reconvene at 8 a.m. on Thur., Sept. 3, and adjourn at 1:30 p.m.

The commission will open the annual review of the fishing regulatory chapter and for consideration of requiring aquatic nuisance species (ANS) inspection and management for aquatic wildlife production facilities and amending regulations to prohibit the use of any amphibian (alive or dead) as fishing bait.
The commission will discuss CPW’s recommendation concerning potential regulatory changes related to the avocational take of prairie dogs on public land and related citizen petition.
The commission will also open for consideration of regulations to implement the new licensing and registration system in June of 2027 and preference point fees for bear, elk, deer, pronghorn and turkey as well as an annual consideration of adjusting license fees and license agent commission rates according to adjustments to the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood Consumer Price Index.
The commission will open for final review of property-specific regulations for Comeo Shooting and Education Complex and Fishers Peak State Park.
The commission will also open for consideration to update river outfitter regulations to implement HB26-1197.
The commission will open for consideration to add game management unit 26 to the over-the-counter turkey hunt code.
The commission will consider whether it should adopt the Director’s written recommendation to DENY a petition for rulemaking related to prohibiting feeding fish on state waters.
